How to Make Text Bigger on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Windows

By Rahul, Macbryte ·

Squinting at your screen? You don't need new glasses or a bigger device. Every iPhone, iPad, Mac and Windows computer has built-in settings to make text larger and easier to read. Here is where to find them.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open Settings and tap Display & Brightness.
  2. Tap Text Size and drag the slider to the right.
  3. Want it even bigger? Go to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Larger Text, turn on Larger Accessibility Sizes, and drag the slider.
  4. While you're there, Bold Text makes everything easier to read too.

Tip: Settings > Display & Brightness > Display Zoom > Larger Text makes icons and buttons bigger as well as the words.

Mac

  1. Click the Apple menu > System Settings > Accessibility > Display.
  2. Click Text size and choose a larger size. Many built-in apps like Mail, Messages and Finder will follow it.
  3. To make everything on screen larger, go to System Settings > Displays and choose the option toward Larger Text.

Windows 11

  1. Click Start > Settings > Accessibility > Text size.
  2. Drag the slider until the sample text is comfortable, then click Apply.
  3. To make everything bigger, go to Settings > System > Display and change Scale (for example from 100% to 125%).

Windows 10

Click Start > Settings > Ease of Access > Display, then use the Make text bigger slider and click Apply. (Still on Windows 10? Read what Windows 10 end of support means for you.)

Any web page, on any computer

Hold the Ctrl key (Windows) or Command ⌘ key (Mac) and press + to zoom in, – to zoom out, and 0 to go back to normal. Your browser remembers the zoom for each website.

Still hard to read?

There are more options — high-contrast colours, a magnifier, or having your device read text aloud. We'll find the combination that works for your eyes during a lesson on your own iPad, iPhone or computer. Book a free 15-minute call to get started.
