Step 1: Open Your Email
On a Computer
Open Chrome, Safari, or Edge. Go to gmail.com or outlook.com. Type your email and password, click Sign In.
On iPad or iPhone
Open the Mail app (envelope icon). If not set up, go to Settings β Mail β Accounts β Add Account.
Step 2: Your Inbox
New unread emails are bold with a blue dot. Read ones appear normal. Click any email to open it.
Step 3: Reply
Click the Reply button (curved arrow). Type your message, click Send.
Step 4: Write a New Email
Click Compose. Fill in To (the address), Subject (a title), and the message. Click Send.
Step 5: Send a Photo
Click Compose. Click the paperclip π. Find and select your photo. Click Open. Write your message and send.
Step 6: Organise Your Inbox
Delete ποΈ β Remove emails you don't need
Star β β Mark important emails
Search β Find old emails by typing a name or keyword
Setting Up a Free Gmail Account
Go to gmail.com β Create account
Fill in your name, choose a username, create a password
Follow the remaining steps and click Create Account
β οΈ Write down your email address and password. Keep them in a safe place.

Making a FaceTime Call
Open FaceTime
Tap the green video camera icon π₯.
Start a Call
Tap + β type name or number β tap the video camera button πΉ.
During the Call
Mute π turns mic off. Camera π· turns video off. Red button hangs up.
Joining a Zoom Call
Get the App
Go to zoom.us to download, or search "Zoom" in the App Store.
Join
Click the Zoom link someone sent you. Click Join Meeting. Choose Join with Video and Join with Audio.

The "Your Computer Has a Virus" Phone Scam
Someone calls claiming to be from Microsoft. This is always a scam. Microsoft does NOT call people. Hang up immediately.
Creating Strong Passwords
Use a phrase: "My cat Fluffy is 12 years old!" β McfI12yo!
Add numbers and symbols
Use different passwords for email, banking, and shopping
Write them down in a notebook kept in a drawer
Safe Browsing
Look for the padlock π in the address bar before entering personal info

Side Button β Press to wake the screen

Make a Phone Call

Take Photos

Download Apps
Open App Store (blue icon with A). Tap Search. Type what you want. Tap Get. May need your Apple ID password.
Make Text Bigger
Settings β Display & Brightness β Text Size. Drag the slider right. For even bigger: Settings β Accessibility β Larger Text.

Sign in. You'll see your accounts summary. Click an account to see recent transactions. Always click Sign Out when done.
Pay a Bill
Look for Pay Bills. Add the company name. Enter your account number. Enter the amount and date. Confirm.
Send Money (e-Transfer)
Find Interac e-Transfer. Enter the amount and recipient's email. Create a security question and tell the answer separately. Click Send.

Go to amazon.ca
Search for what you want

Click Photo/Video near the top. Select a photo. Add a caption. Click Post.
Privacy Settings
Go to Settings & Privacy β Settings β Privacy. Set "Who can see your future posts?" to Friends (not Public).

iCloud (Apple Users)
Check storage: Settings β Your Name β iCloud. Backup: Settings β Your Name β iCloud β iCloud Backup β ON. Backs up nightly when plugged in on Wi-Fi.
Google Drive (Any Device)
Go to drive.google.com. Sign in with your Gmail. Click + to upload files. Create folders to organise.
Share a File
Right-click a file β Share. Type the person's email. Choose View or Edit. Click Send.
